The Testing Laboratory Directorate (TLD) is accredited to perform testing of over 100 physicochemical, microbiological and radiological characteristics for various types of waters (including: drinking, mineral, surface, ground, sea, water from swimming pools and also waste water).
When testing physicochemical indexes in waters, TLD uses classical (weight, titrimetric), as well as physicochemical methods. The laboratory has at its disposal contemporary and modern equipment, which ensures high quality and reliability of results (atomic-emission spectrometers with inductively-coupled plasma, atomic-absorption spectrometers, ion chromatograph, gas chromatographs, gas chromatograph with mass spectrometric detector, spectrometers, flame photometer.
The content of total extractable substances and petroleum products (non-polar hydrocarbons С10–С40) is determined with a gas chromatograph with flame ionization detector. The content of organic contaminants – 22 volatile organic compounds (VOC), 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and over 80 pesticides – is determined with a gas chromatograph with mass spectrometric detector.
For the determination of microbiological indexes, TLD has designated areas, complying with all normative requirements. The equipment in the microbiological laboratory includes a laminar flow hood, a system for membrane filtration, a UV-lamp, thermostats, autoclaves etc.
The following radiological characteristics are determined: natural uranium (spectrophotometric and luminescent method), total β- activity (method of a concentrated source) and radium 226 (emanation method).
If the client requires it, the test reports can also be issued both in Bulgarian and in English.
